Webull and moomoo are both US-registered, commission-free brokers built for active traders, with charting, paper trading and options tools in one app. The real differences, as at 12 October 2026, are margin pricing, what sits behind a paid tier, which extra products each offers and the size of the sign-up offers. Both are owned by Nasdaq-listed groups and both operate in several other countries through separate local companies.

What You Can Trade and Research Tools
Webull's offer page lists stocks, ETFs, options, crypto, futures, prediction markets and IRAs, with fractional shares from $1, paperTrade practice accounts and mobile, computer and browser platforms. Level 2 quotes and OPRA options data each cost $2.99 a month on a standard account and nothing with Premium.
Moomoo's US homepage lists US stocks, ETFs, options, fractional shares and crypto, the last through Moomoo Crypto Inc. at a 0.49% transaction fee, per its help centre. For research it advertises 100+ technical indicators, 38+ drawing tools, real-time Level 2 data with up to 60 bid and ask levels, 13 preset options strategies, paper trading and TradingView access. In June 2026 it announced a partnership with Kalshi for prediction markets. For more stock venues, see /markets/stocks.
Size and Reach
Our table shows no volume or open interest for either broker, because neither publishes venue-level trading volume in the free sources we use. Reach is the clearer measure. Webull Corporation (Nasdaq: BULL) says it offers investment services in 18 markets. Moomoo is a brand of Futu Holdings (Nasdaq: FUTU) and lists seven countries on its about page.
Campaigns and Offers
Webull's sign-up offer, as published on its offer page, gives one month of Premium for opening an account, a 1.4% APY booster for 30 days on up to $10,000 of cash once you deposit $0.01, and 10 fractional shares for a first deposit of $100 or more. Joint, futures, IRA, entity and event contract accounts are excluded.
Moomoo's US welcome bonus terms run from 1 September to 31 October 2026, or end sooner if a condition in the terms is met. New customers get a 4.5% APY booster for 60 days on the first $20,000 in the cash sweep, added to a 3.6% base rate. A $100 net deposit earns ten $10 trading coupons. Net deposits from $500 earn NVDA shares worth $30, rising to $1,000 at $100,000, but you must keep average assets at that level for 60 to 180 days to unlock them. Account transfers do not count towards the stock bonus. Our calendar also lists a moomoo Australia offer for Australian residents only.
Bonus rates are temporary, and holding rules can tie up your money for months. Read our guide to checking a campaign before you join, and see every live offer on /bonuses.
Who Can Sign Up
Everything above applies to US residents. Moomoo's terms require a valid Social Security number and an age of 18 or over, and its help centre says $0 commission trading is only for US residents trading US markets through Moomoo Financial Inc. Outside the US, moomoo serves Canada, Singapore, Australia, Japan, Malaysia and New Zealand through local companies with their own pricing. Webull serves its other markets through what it calls a global network of licensed brokerages, so the US figures here do not carry over to them.
Regulation and Record
Webull Financial LLC is an SEC-registered broker-dealer and FINRA and SIPC member (BrokerCheck). Futures run through Webull Futures LLC, a CFTC-registered futures commission merchant. Its BrokerCheck report lists six final regulatory events, including a $3 million FINRA fine in March 2023 over options approvals, a $500,000 Massachusetts fine in November 2023, a $125,000 SEC penalty in November 2024 over suspicious activity reports, a $1.6 million FINRA fine in May 2025 and a $115,000 FINRA fine in August 2026 over options order records.
Moomoo Financial Inc. is an SEC-registered broker-dealer and FINRA and SIPC member (BrokerCheck), with clearing by Futu Clearing Inc. Its BrokerCheck report lists a $750,000 FINRA fine in November 2024 over paid influencer posts and privacy notices, and a $125,000 FINRA fine in December 2025 over large options position reporting. Which Fits Which Trader
- A trader who borrows on margin without paying for a subscription may lean towards moomoo's advertised 6.8%. One with a very large margin balance may find Webull Premium's lower tiers cheaper.
- A trader who wants futures, IRAs and prediction markets in the same US app will find all three listed by Webull.
- A trader who wants deep charting and Level 2 data without a monthly data fee should compare moomoo's published conditions with Webull's $2.99 standard charge.
- A new US customer weighing the sign-up offers should set the holding periods against the bonus, and remember that either broker charges to leave. For another Webull pairing, see Robinhood vs Webull, or compare apps on /trading-apps.
This comparison is information, not financial advice. Trading, options and margin carry risk, including losing more than you deposit, and fees and terms change: check each venue's own pages before you trade.
Questions and answers
Are Webull and moomoo free to trade with in the US?
Both charge no commission on US-listed stocks, ETFs and equity options for US residents. You still pay regulatory fees such as the SEC fee, $0.50 per contract on index options at both, margin interest if you borrow, and a fee to transfer your account out: $75 at Webull and $100 at moomoo, as at 12 October 2026.
Which charges less for margin?
Moomoo advertises 6.8% on margin balances of $25,000 or less. Webull's standard rate is 8.74% at every balance, as of 31 March 2026, and its paid Premium tier lowers that, to as little as 3.9% on the largest balances. Both need $2,000 in the account before you can trade on margin, and margin can lose you more than you deposit.
Can I use Webull or moomoo outside the US?
Yes, but through separate local companies with their own products, fees and offers. Moomoo lists the US, Canada, Singapore, Australia, Japan, Malaysia and New Zealand. Webull says it serves 18 markets across North America, Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa and Latin America. This comparison covers the US entities, Webull Financial LLC and Moomoo Financial Inc.
Is my money protected at Webull and moomoo?
Both US brokerages are SIPC members, which covers securities up to $500,000, including $250,000 for cash, if the firm fails. SIPC does not cover market losses. Futures and crypto sit with other companies and are not SIPC protected. Uninvested cash swept to partner banks is covered by FDIC insurance instead, within each program's published limits.
