Robinhood and Webull both charge no commission on US stocks, ETFs and options, so the differences sit in margin costs, retirement perks, tools and the promotions each is running. Robinhood suits people who want one simple app with a paid Gold tier that lowers several costs. Webull suits people who want charting-heavy desktop tools and a wider product list, including bonds and mutual funds.
Robinhood's fee page lists $0 commissions on stocks, ETFs and their options, with index options at $0.50 per contract, or $0.35 with Gold. Robinhood Gold costs $5 a month and includes the first $1,000 of margin, 3.6% APY on eligible brokerage cash and futures at $0.50 per contract. Its margin rates run from 5.25% up to $50,000 down to 4.20% above $50 million.
Webull's pricing page shows $0 commissions on US-listed stocks, ETFs and options, a $0.50 per contract fee on certain index options and no deposit minimum. Its margin page lists 8.74% at every tier for standard accounts and 5.20% to 3.90% for Premium, as of 31 March 2026.
Leaving costs money at both. Robinhood charges $100 to transfer assets out. Webull charges $75 per outgoing stock transfer.
Robinhood's homepage lists stocks, ETFs, crypto, options, futures and prediction markets, and you can start with $1. It also offers managed portfolios through Robinhood Strategies and a desktop platform, Robinhood Legend.
Webull's product menu covers stocks, ETFs, options, index options, futures, overnight trading, crypto, OTC shares, prediction markets, fixed income, money market funds and mutual funds. It runs desktop apps for Mac, Windows and Linux, plus a paperTrade practice mode. See the wider field on /markets/stocks.
Robinhood offers traditional and Roth IRAs, each in self-directed and managed versions. Its IRA match is 1% of contributions, or 3% with Gold, and matched assets must stay in the IRA for five years.
Webull offers traditional, Roth and rollover IRAs. Premium members get a 3.5% match on IRA contributions, and for a limited time a 1% match on IRA transfers and rollovers. Both apps also offer individual taxable brokerage accounts with optional margin.
Robinhood's HOOD Summit transfer match pays 1%, 2% or 3% on assets moved in by ACATS, uncapped, until 16 October. A separate 3% match on transfers from Webull runs to the same date. Both require you to hold the assets for five years or repay part of the bonus. A targeted welcome back offer pays $5 to $20 for funding an empty account until 25 October. The IRA transfer match closed on 9 October.
Webull's standing sign-up offer gives 10 fractional shares for a deposit of $100 or more, plus a temporary APY booster. Before moving a large portfolio for a bonus, read our guide to checking a campaign before you join. All live offers are on /bonuses.
This comparison covers the US apps, and every offer above is for US customers only. Robinhood's securities business, per the disclosures on its homepage, runs through Robinhood Financial LLC, with clearing by Robinhood Securities LLC, both SIPC members. Futures sit with Robinhood Derivatives, a CFTC-registered futures commission merchant and NFA member, and crypto with Robinhood Crypto, licensed by the New York Department of Financial Services. Neither futures nor crypto are SIPC protected.
Webull Financial LLC is an SEC-registered broker-dealer and a member of FINRA and SIPC. Its futures run through Webull Futures LLC, a CFTC-registered futures commission merchant and NFA member, and are not SIPC protected. Webull adds excess SIPC cover through its clearing arrangements.
Robinhood was founded in 2013 by Vlad Tenev and Baiju Bhatt, and its parent company is listed on Nasdaq. In 2021 FINRA ordered it to pay about $70 million in fines and restitution over outages, misleading information and options approvals. In January 2025 two Robinhood broker-dealers agreed to pay $45 million to settle SEC charges.
Webull went public on Nasdaq in April 2025 through a SPAC merger. FINRA fined Webull Financial $3 million in 2023 over options approvals and complaint handling, and a later $1.6 million settlement covered its supervision of paid social media influencers.
Stock, ETF and options trades carry no commission at either. You still pay regulatory fees, index option contract fees, margin interest and transfer-out fees.
Securities at both brokerages are covered by SIPC up to its limits. Futures and crypto are not.
Webull charges $75 per outgoing transfer, and Robinhood's match is clawed back in part if you remove the assets within five years.
Robinhood's published rate of 5.25% on smaller balances is lower than Webull's standard 8.74%. Webull Premium's 5.20% is close.
